VIJAYAWADA: Some passengers of the Trivandrum-New Delhi Kerala Express staged a protest at the railway station here on Tuesday, complaining about the quality of food being served in the train.
According to sources, a section of the passengers detrained from the Kerala Express soon after it arrived at 5 pm. "Roughly 25 to 30 people started protesting outside the station master's office. They were unhappy with the quality of food served and said that the quantity was too less but the price was way too high," a railway official told ToI.
The passengers also demanded a change in the pantry car in order to provide them with better food. "We couldn't make any changes because the train belongs to Southern Railways. However, we provided them with clean food from the Vijayawada station and the matter was settled," the official added.
Further arrangements were made and catering staff were asked to load fresh food onto the train when it reaches Gudur railway station. The protest caused half an hour delay here. The train eventually left at 5.30 pm.
