Food safety authorities inspected shops and hotels here on Wednesday and destroyed substandard food stuff.
A team of 18 food safety officers from the district carried out the inspection especially in and around the bus stand.
T.Kalaish Kumar, Food Safety Officer, Tiruvannamalai town, who was part of the team, told
The Hindu
that they seized and destroyed cooking oil used multiple times, and
biscuits, almond milk, etc, that had gone stale. Packaged food items
that didn’t carry expiry date were also destroyed.
