IMPHAL, Jul 15:The Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit system students’ wing, on a drive to inspect the working conditions of 13 bakery houses in Thangmei-band and Babupara today, found that 11 out of the total 13 bakery houses were run-ning without the authorized licence of the district food safety officer.
The students’ wing convener, Angamba, in a press meet held at JCILP office today said that the food production process in these ba- kery houses were found most unhygienic and harmful for consumption.
The team found that most of these houses were manufacturing food products using rotten and expired eggs, flours etc.
Angamba further added that the Government should regularly inspect every licensed bakery houses to guarantee nutrition and hygiene of food products.
He continued that these bakery houses, or any food production firm, should not, under the Food Safety Standard Act, be allowed to operate without licence.
The team, Angamba said, also came across houses employing child workers. He, therefore, appealed these houses to stop using child labourers.
He further assured that they will continue to further investigate other food production firms in the State
