JAMMU: Taking a serious note over the health concerns on various test results on Maggi and other similar non-standardized food products like noodles, pastas and macroni with excessive amounts of Mono Sodium Glutamate and lead (tastemakers) than the prescribed limits, a team of Food Safety Officers including Rakesh Gupta, Munish Gupta and Subash Chander Sharma of Drug & Food Control Organisation (DFCO) under the supervision of Assistant Commissioner/Designated Officer Food Safety District Jammu (Rural), Ajit Singh conducted on the spot inspections of various business establishments.
Improvement notices were issued to number of Food Business Organisations to improve their conditions within stipulated time frame. Six samples of macroni, pastas and noodles from different outlets of various companies like Nestle India, ITC, Indo Nissin Foods, Bambino, Savour and Goldi were lifted and sent to laboratory for ascertaining their standards. Shopkeepers were further impressed upon to stop the sale of products under question and maintain hygienic and sanitary conditions in their premises. They were also asked to follow all the parameters of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and Rules and Regulations, 2011 in letter and spirit.
