AHMEDABAD: The civic body on Tuesday conducted raids at 25 food outlets across the city. Four teams from AMC's food safety department went across hotels and popular roadside food joints to check gravies, sauce, chutneys, pickles and even curries. The officials took samples of these food items to conduct laboratory checks.
The areas included Paldi, Bhatta, Maninagar, Odhav Road , Sabarmati, Vadaj and Vatva areas. Most of the food joints targeted by the civic body were selling Chinese, Pani puris, fried snacks, South Indian and even Italian cuisine.
"Most food items sold during this season spoil fast, and we suspected that in the absence of cold storage, many of roadside food joints may be vending stale food items,' said a senior AMC health official.
