VADODARA: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) began holding camps to issue food licences under the Food Safety and Standards Act. The first such camp was held on Friday at Navapura.
VMC officials said that the first camp was held at the Navapura urban health center. The second camp will be held at the Diwalipura urban health center on Saturday.
Sources said that the vendors could approach the civic body with necessary documents and fees. Officials said that the last date for registration was on August 4 as per the latest intimation by the Food Safety Authority of India.
Officials added that after August 4 action could be taken against vendors who did not have food licences. The vendors could be imprisoned for a period up to six years and slapped a fine of up to Rs five lakh.
