GURGAON: City vigilance bureau has arrested a food safety and drug officer on Monday for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000 in lieu of granting a catering license to the complainant. The complainant offered the bribe after informing the vigilance about the demand and an alleged agent of the officer was arrested while accepting the bribe on his behalf. The accused officer was later arrested from his office.
According to the vigilance team, the complainant, Jitender Kathuria, approached the vigilance bureau in sector 15 and informed about the bribe demand. The vigilance team tapped the conversation between the accused officer and the complainant where the accused was demanding bribe. After which according to the instruction of the bureau Jitender offered the bribe to the agent of the officer, Puran Khanna. After the agent confessed that he was accepting the bribe for the accused officer, Daya Kishan Sharma, he was arrested from his office.
According to the bureau the complainant identified as Jitender Kathuria reached in sector 15 vigilance bureau's office claiming that food safety and drug inspector was demanding Rs 30, 000 for granting catering license to him. The vigilance team heard conversation on phone and formed a special team headed by inspector Ramesh Kumar for raid with duty magistrate Naib Tehsildar Sanjeev Singla and they went to civil hospital.
