PANJIM, Aug. 29 -- Officials of Food & Drugs Administration shut down two units and confiscated boxes of unhygienic sweets in and around Ponda, after they detected that three sweet-making units were manufacturing farsan and sweets in extremely unhygienic and unsanitary conditions and found spoilt sweets stocked in the premises.The officials also found misbranded and incorrectly labelled farsan food articles in violation of Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the Rules Regulation 2011.
FDA director Salim Veljee informed the raiding party included Senior Food Safety Officer Iva Fernandes and Food Safety Officer Shailesh Shenvi on August 26 and 27 and the inspections were part of Ganesh festival surveillance in the Ponda area.
