The Health Department’s special squads conducted raids on hotels, bakeries, catering centres, soda factories, and eateries across the State on Friday as part of Safe Kerala, a public heath initiative of the department.
Health officials found food being cooked in unhygienic conditions. They also found many cooks without the mandatory health certificates, stale food, and unsafe water in many kitchens. About 13, 593 establishments were inspected in all, across the State, of which, 159 were issued closure notices. Notices were issued to 2,984 establishments.
