Nagpur: A day after a three-member team of Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided hotel Radisson Blu following a complaint of worms in food served, the organization will be sending improvement notice to the hotel.
Food safety officer of FDA Abhay Deshpande on Sunday told TOI, “We will be sending an improvement notice to the hotel as our initial findings revealed several irregularities under Food Safety and Standards Act.”
General Manager of hotel Manoj Bali in a message to TOI, maintained it was a routine check by FDA and it had collected food samples from hotel’s kitchen as prescribed.
According to sources at FDA, some 40 people were at the hotel for a two-day conference organized by a pharmaceutical company. On Saturday, one member of this group having breakfast allegedly found a worm in ‘vada sambar’. However, complaint was made to FDA by members of a social organization. Soon, a three member team of FDA officials reached the hotel at Chhatrapati Square and collected samples from the kitchen.
“We have sent the samples to the laboratory for analysis and reports are likely to come within eight days. Following which we will take next steps. Meanwhile the notice will be served to the hotel due lack of sanitary and health measures,” said Deshpande.
