Srinagar, Apr 16: The Food Safety Department today served fresh notice to the Khyber Agro Farms Private Limited after they started their operations illegally.
Despite Government order on recalling of dairy products manufactured by Khyber Agro Farms, the company had started their operations in Pulwama and was distributing thousands of litres of toned milk in the market across Kashmir.
Sources said that the Khyber today distributed 27, 000 litres of milk in the market across Kashmir. However, 5000 litres were returned as large number of retailers refused to sell the Khyber Milk and its other dairy products due to Government ban.
The Health and Medical Education Department, in its order No HD/Legal/Drug/MR-56/2016 dated 06-04-2016 had ordered that no milk or milk product of the company be available for human consumption till these products are declared safe by a referral laboratory Kolkata.
The Food Safety today issued latest notice to proprietor Khyber Agro Farms wherein he has been asked to immediately halt the production of milk in his industrial unit. They had received reports that the company had started their operations illegally.
“You have been served closure notice vide letter number DO/FSSA/PUL/569-72 dated16/4/2016 by Designated Officer Pulwama in light of the orders passed by worthy Commissioner of Food Safety vide letter number HD/Legal/Drug/MR-56/2016 dated 06-04-2016. As such you are directed to recall all the milk and milk products from District Srinagar market immediately so that same are dealt as per the provision of Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 Rules 2011,” reads the notice.
