Banned tobacco products, fake tea powder seized

Officials of Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department seized banned tobacco products and fake tea powder, all worth over Rs. 4 lakh, from a godown at SIDCO in Five Road on Friday.

When police personnel were involved in vehicle check in the city, they attempted to intercept an Omni van.

But the vehicle did not stop. Suspecting that money could be transported in the vehicle, a team led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Law and Order (West Range), P.V. Vijeya Karthickchased the vehicle which entered the godown.

The team found tobacco products and fake tea powder packets of a reputed company.

They informed the District Designated Officer T. Anuradha, who inspected the godown.
