Srinagar, Feb 7 (UNI) About 4.5 quintals of spices, including turmeric, chillies and saunf power had been destroyed by the Drug and Food Control (D&FC) in the summer capital, Srinagar, including in the civil lines.
An official spokesperson said here today that complaints were received that some traders, particularly roadside vendors, were selling open powdered spices in the market in the city.
He said a team of Food Safety Officers of D&FC organisation inspected various markets of Srinagar city including Batmaloo, Hari Singh High Street (HSHS), Saraibala, Lal Chowk, Kokerbazar and other areas to check the sale of open powdered spices which is prohibited under Food Safety and standard Act 2006 Rule 2011.
