Lucknow, June 14: It seems that the recent testing of food items like Maggi and others have made everyone more health conscious or more people are coming out in front to complaint against food items.
The maggi fiasco led to the opening of a can of worms and also raising questions on the safety standards claimed by the manufacturers. The latest food product to join the brigade of "poor quality" food items is Complan, "complete planned food in a drink". Complan It was reported on Saturday, June 13, that dead worms were found in a packet of complan at Asha apartment in Mahanagar area of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh capital.
Tanisha Raisinghania, who was shocked to find worms in Complan packet was quoted saying as to the TOI, "It was on Saturday morning that I opened the Complan packet and added few spoons of the food supplement in milk.
However, as soon as I stirred the food drink, I was amazed to see virtually a can of black and white worms and some dead insects floating on the surface."
She further said that she and her family members were horrified to see so many worms, and have decided not to opt for this energy drink for at least some time.
Tansiha informed that the product had a manufacturing date of February 2, 2015 and she bought it in May 2015. As soon as the news spread, the officials of Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) reached their residence and took the Complan packet for examination.
Basant Gupta, a food safety officier confirmed the incident saying that they have issued a notice to Heinz India Pvt Ltd following the complaint. The complan packet in question bears the batch number NAT G23033A 02/15 and was manufactured in Uttarakhand's Uddham Singh Nagar. Complan
On June 8 this year, insects were also detected in the 500 gram pack of Complan in Bulandshahr district of west Uttar Pradesh.
