To ensure quality food is served to students in hostels in private schools and colleges and sanitation prevails in kitchen and dining areas, officials of the food wing in Namakkal carried out inspection in the premises of few colleges here on Wednesday.
A team led by K. Tamil Selvan, District Designated Officer, Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department visited the kitchen, dining hall in few hostels. He inquired with the supervisors and workers in the kitchen about the quality of food being served, inspected the store rooms and the water storage areas. He instructed the supervisors to purchase ingredients found only with date of manufacturing, expiry date and details of the manufacturer.
Fresh non-vegetarian items from the market should be purchased and ensure that quality is not compromised in the food served to students, he said.
Clean water tanks regularly and ensure that food preparation areas and dining room remains clean.
