JAMMU, MAY 29-In order to ensure that the provisions of Food Safety & Standards Act-2006 and regulations 2011 being compiled by the trade fraternity in letter and spirit and with an objective that quality/hygienic products shall be made available to the general public. Enforcement Staff of Drug & Food Control Organization Jammu under the overall supervision Deputy Controller, Drug & Food Control Organization Jammu conducted a special drive in the rural as well as urban areas of all the districts.
During the five day drive more than 304 food establishments were inspected in the Jammu division, 92 food sample of various food items were also lifted for the purpose of test and analysis and 384 FBOs were given awareness under Food Safety & Standards Act-2006. However, 67 FBOs have been given instructions to improve sanitary/hygienic conditions. Rs 1650/- were fined under various provisions of Cigarettes & other Tobacco Products Act-2003.
The teams in Jammu division also destroyed and disposed off deteriorated, rotten vegetables and sweets more than 100 kg on the spot.
All the FBOs especially in the district Kishtwar were directed to keep their establishments neat and clean and attractive particularly during the forth coming Holy Machail Yatra.
