ALLAHABAD:
To check the sale of stale fruits and food items unfit for consumption,
a team of food safety and drug administration department conducted
raids at several places of the city, on Tuesday.
Led by the chief food safety officer, Hari Mohan Srivastava, the team started their campaign from medical crossing wherein they found stale mangoes from some of the fruit sellers. "Around one quintal of mangoes, which were not fit for human consumption, were destroyed in the presence of the raiding party", said Hari Mohan.
From medical crossing, the team arrived inside Sumitra Nandan Bal Udhyan, popularly called 'Hathi Park' wherein they inspected various kiosks. The next target was a popular fast-food outlet at Strachy road of Civil Lines locality wherein they collected sample of pulses used for making namkeen. Srivastava further informed that similar raids were conducted at one of the food outlet on the same road selling fried chicken. tnn
"Apart from unhygienic conditions, the sauce used in the shop was not proper to be consumed and as such notice has been severed to the shop owner", said the food inspector.
