Institute of Preventive Medicine medical director Dr P Manjari inaugurating Annoor Envirochem and Food Analytical Laboratory in Vijayawada on Monday
Vijayawada: It is the responsibility of one to know the quality of the foods one takes in everyday life, said Institute of Preventive Medicine medical director Dr P Manjari.
She participated as the chief guest at the inaugural programme of ‘Annoor Envirochem and Food Analytical Laboratory’ at Siddhartha College of Pharmaceutical Science. The lab is the first of its kind in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjari said that the manufacturers of food and soft drinks should follow the food safety Act and get the products tested as per the act.
Annoor Envirochem and Food Analytical Laboratory has accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
Excess food colour, preservative, pesticide remains, nutrition values, mineral water, drinking water can be tested at the lab.
Lab MD Sk Ansar said that tests were done under expert’s supervision. For the food test, people used to go all the way to Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad and now they can get the tests done here at Vijayawada, he said.
