Katra, August 22
In wake of the festive season, a team of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India conducted raids at various sweets shops of Reasi on Wednesday.
The team, led by food safety officer Madan Mangotra, conducted a raid on a sweet shop at Vijaypur and took samples of three different products.
Mangotra said: “Right now we cannot comment whether these products are spurious or fit for consumption. We have taken the samples of khoya products for testing. Further action will be taken after we get the reports.” Meanwhile, the owner of the sweet shop complained that the raid would cause a loss to the business. “The very word raid causes a lot of doubt in the minds of people. While merely samples have been collected and the report will not come anytime soon, but the locals will avoid buying products from us,” the owner rued.
