PILIBHIT: With Holi round the corner, a team of food safety department raided three sweet shops in Amaria on Monday and collected samples of different sweets for a lab test. They also destroyed adulterated sweets such as jalebi and carrot halwa.
Samples of edible refined and mustered oils were also collected from many shops. The samples were sent to a state laboratory in Lucknow. Meanwhile, an action report was filed before additional district magistrate (judicial) Vinod Kumar Gaur.
The food department swung into action following the order of the officer designated of food safety and drug administration, V K Verma. The drive will continue till Holi.
According to Verma, a food safety team also sealed a meat shop in Amaria, which was running without licence. Another departmental team collected samples in Puranpur tehsil area on Tuesday and checked quality of edible materials at 10 shops.
