MEERUT: The Food Safety and Drugs Administration (FSDA) authorities conducted sampling of mid-day meals from government schools here on Wednesday. A total of 16 samples from primary schools and upper primary schools (Khair Nagar) were collected and sent for tests to a Lucknow laboratory.
Samples of tahri (a vegetarian version of biriyani) and milk were also taken from neighboring shops. "Sixteen samples of food items, including milk, tahri and mixed milk have been taken from sweet shops as well as primary and upper primary schools in Khair Nagar on Wednesday," said Archana Dheeran, designated officer, FSDA, Meerut.
The samples were collected and sent to the Lucknow laboratory to ensure that they were not tampered with. "Reports of the samples will come in a month's time and action will be taken accordingly," said Dheeran.
