NAGPUR: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Nagpur division, seized scented and flavoured gutkha from a manufacturing unit in city. This was the team's first ever raid on a gutkha manufacturing unit atWanjra in Parvati Nagar in the city.
The manufacturing unit was being run by the Mohammad Wajif Mohamamd Ismail. "It is for the first time that FDA conducted an operation on a manufacturing unit in the city. We seized material valued at Rs 52,500. The accused used glycerin and flavor to manufacture gutkha," said Milind Dehspande, assistant food commissioner, who also headed the three-member raiding team.
The team also included food safety officers Abhay Deshpande, Manoj Tiwari and Pravin Umap.
