Pune: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) officials raided and seized gutka and paan masala worth Rs 2.46 lakh from a godown in Pimpri on Sunday.
"The raid was conducted following a tip-off. We seized gutka and paan masala worth Rs 2.46 lakh from the godown," Shivaji Desai, joint commissioner (food), FDA, Pune, said. Desai took charge as FDA chief, Pune division, last week.
Food safety officials K S Shinde, Kiran Jadhav, Laxmikant Sawale and Avinash Bhandwalkar carried out the raid under the guidance of S M Deshmukh, assistant commissioner (food), Pune. "The trader will be interrogated to trace the source of the banned products. An FIR will be filed against him on Monday," Desai said.
