Twenty flavoured drinking water units, which were functioning without the mandatory approval under the Food Safety and Standards Act, have been closed down in the district.
J. Suguna, Designated Officer for Food Safety, Madurai district, said here on Thursday that following an inspection, the units were issued notices and given time to close down.
Besides, the food safety team inspected two packaged drinking water units at Erumapatti near Usilampatti and one near Chellampatti.
Those units were sealed by the inspecting teams on Thursday.
