Members of the Tamil Nadu Packaged Drinking Water
Manufacturers Association have withdrawn the decision to surrender the
licences provided by Bureau of Indian Standards to operate drinking
water units. A.Shakespeare, the association’s general secretary, said
that the decision was withdrawn as officials of the Food Safety and
Standards Authority of India have assured them that action will be taken
against units that sell ‘herbal’ and ‘flavoured’ water without any
licence.
