About five quintals of synthetic mawa, suspected of containing urea, was seized during a raid at a manufacturing site in village Sadharanpur here, food safety department officials said today.
The raid was carried out last night, Chief Food Inspector Sanjay Pandey said, adding that whitener and some other chemicals were being used to make the mawa.
The owner of the manufacturing site, Om Prakash, had already been convicted on charges of adulteration in 2009, Pandey said.
