A team of Food Safety Officers, headed by Municipal Health Officer Dr Mohammad Saleem Khan, today inspected various sweet shops — Darshan Halwai, Nai Basti, Mewar Ice-Cream Workshop, Shastri Nagar, Surya Milk Outlets, Bansi Halwai, Nai Basti, Casino Milk Shop, Channi Himmat.
During the drive about three quintals of ice-cream prepared under unhygienic conditions was destroyed on the spot and the utensils for storage/manufacturing ice-cream were seized.
One quintal milk and 30 kg of stale cooked food was also destroyed on the spot. About 10 quintal milk was checked and Rs 17,300 were realised as fine from the defaulters.
Health Officer Dr Khan has urged all the food business operators not to sell any type of food items not conforming to prescribed quality and standards, which can put the health of people in danger, otherwise stringent action under the Food Safety and Standards Act-2006 will be taken against them.
