'Diamond' drinking water banned

Imphal, August 22 2014 : Designated Officer (Food Safety Administration), Dr Puspa Rai, who is also the CMO, Imphal East, has prohibited manufacturing and selling of 'Diamond' packaged drinking water (20 litres jar and 250 ml packs) manufactured by M/S BK Enterprise, Wangkhei in Imphal East after it was found being sold without Bureau of Indian Standard (BIS) Certificate mark and Food Safety & Standard Authority of India (FSSAI) license.
The prohibition came following an inspection drive conducted by a team led by Y Satyajeet, Food Safety Officer of IW and Th Sunilkumar, Food Safety Officer of Ccpur Dist at RIMS Road area on Aug 21 .
During the inspection, the packaged drinking water was found selling without the BIS Certificate mark and FSSAI license thereby violating Food Safety & Standards Act 2006.The two Food Safety Officers passed the information immediately to the Designated Officer (FSA)/Chief Medical, Imphal East who then issued a prohibition order under Section 31 (1) of Food Safety & Standards Act 2006 today.
