Three oil brands banned

Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) authorities in the district have banned the sale of three brands of coconut oil in the district. The brands are ‘Hrudayam,’ manufactured at Changanasserry; ‘Pavan,’ made in Aluva; and ‘Keratop,’ produced in Kochi, food safety officials said.
The samples of the three brands were collected earlier by a special squad of food safety officials. The three brands failed the tests in respect of safety standards, Alappuzha Food Safety Assistant Commissioner Joseph Shaji George said. The officials conducted raids at several outlets and action was being taken against erring entities, he said.
