Elaborate arrangements being made for smooth conduct of Mangani festival

Elaborate arrangements are being made for the smooth conduct of ‘Mangani festival’ scheduled to be held on June 19 at Sri Kailsanathaswamy and Sri Nithya Perumal temple.
To begin on Friday
The four-day festival will commence on June 17 with Sri Vigneswara pujai.
The main ritual of offering mango to the processional idol of Sri Karikal Ammaiyar will be held at 9 a.m. on June 19.
Satyendra Singh Dursawat, District Collector, said adequate security arrangements would be provided to the devotees visiting Karaikal to witness the festival.
All those interested to offer free food packets should obtain prior permission from the Food Safety Department for each distribution stall to be set up by them.
Strict vigil would be kept on the quality of mangoes sold on the occasion and action would be taken against traders found using carbide for ripening the fruits.
The Collector said that all arrangements had been made for the supply of drinking water to the devotees. Fire fighting personnel would be stationed at strategic locations.
The Collector appealed to the traders and snack stall owners to supply hygienic dishes to the devotees.
Old and outdated stock of biscuits, sweets, and other packed snacks should not be sold.
Squads set up
Special squads of officials from food safety unit have been constituted for assessing the quality of food and other dishes at hotels and pavement shops, he said.
