Maggi fails test in Andaman; LG asks traders to stop selling Maggi

Maggi noodles samples test, lifted by the Food Safety Officers, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, were conducted in the laboratory at mainland as per the direction received from the Food Safety Standard Authority of India (FSSAI).
According to official sources, the results reveal that the samples do not satisfy the standards prescribed under FSS Act, 2006 and were found unsafe and unfit for human consumption.Further as per the order of FSSAI, all the nine approved variants of Maggi instant noodles are to be withdrawn and further production would be stope. Moreover, the FSSAI has also desired to withdraw and recall the Maggi oats masala noodles with taste makers as the product approval was not granted by FSSAI.In view of this, the Lt Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has desired that all the traders should not store, distribute and sell Maggi noodles in the food safety, security and larger interest of general public
.The general public of Andaman and Nicobar Islands have also been cautioned not to buy any Maggi noodles manufactured by Nestle India.Further, all the District Commissioners and Superintendent of Police have been informed to take necessary steps to prevent import, storage, distribution and sale of Maggi noodles manufactured by Nestle India under FSS Act 2006, a statement from Andamans IP Division said here.
