HYGIENE AT EATERIES

This is in reference to a report in The Hindu titled ‘Eating out still not very safe.’ The Health Department and the food safety authorities must ensure that hotels adhere to rules and also take stringent action against the offenders. Most wayside eateries use contaminated water for cooking and serve food in unhygienic surroundings. The authorities should close down such outlets. Clean, safe food is a right of the consumer.

  1. Awareness to FBO s on Hygiene & Sanitation is lacking. Prevention should be the priority. FDA team should consider all stake holders in food safety chain into confidence and implement safe food, healthy food policy in the interest of consumers.
