JMC continuing adulteration drive

Continuing the drive against the menace of adulteration especially in milk within the limits of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), special drive was conducted by a team of Food Safety Officers under the supervision of Health Officer Dr Mohd Saleem Khan. During the drive the Food Safety Officer concerned lifted sample of Double Toned Milk (Go Brand) from Best Price Toph Sherkhanian, Jammu, today which was found misbranded by the Food Analyst Jammu. Then another part of sample was sent to Referral Food Lab. Kolkata on June 25, 2014 and the report from Referral Food Lab. Kolkata has been received which reveals the product as unsafe, substandard and misbranded. Consequently about 17 quintals of double toned Milk (Go Brand) have been seized after lifting the sample of same brand from M/s Parag Milk Food Private Limited Digiana Jammu and about 16 quintals of double toned milk (Go Brand) from M/s Best Price Jammu under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. The samples lifted have been sent to Food Laboratory Jammu for analysis. Further action under rule will be taken after receiving the report. 
The Food Business Operator i.e. distributor has been directed to recall all the product i.e. Double Toned Milk (Go Brand) from the market immediately as per guidelines under FSS Act 2006. Meanwhile a request for prosecution sanction will be sent to the competent authority shortly and further action will be initiated against the defaulters as per the guidelines. The Food Business operators are also directed not to sell any type of unhygienic food not conforming to prescribed quality and standards which can put the public health to danger, otherwise stringent action under Food Safety and Standards Act 2006 shall be taken against the defaulters. The drive will remain continue and no lapse in food adulteration will be tolerated in future also.
