The BJP has expressed concern over food safety at
Sabarimala during the pilgrimage season. Party spokesperson V.V. Rajesh
told the media here on Friday that the Kalkandam (crystallised form of
palm sugar) used for making ‘prasadam’ at the Ayyappa temple was of low
quality. However, test results were being manipulated to show that the
supplied material was of 95 per cent purity. He also said the pilgrim
centre faced water shortage.
