Food and Drugs Administration is on its toes as we approach the Diwali season. FDA officials raided a sweet, farsan and ice cream manufacturing unit in Vasco on Friday.
These units were unlicensed and food items were manufactured in unhygienic and insanitary conditions. They confiscated and destroyed 400 kgs of Mava among other things during this raid.
These manufacturing units were located near Maimollem lake in Vasco. The confiscated stock was worth 3.5 lakh rupees. 400kgs of spurious mawa was also confiscated from Jatharam Bhati and Jamanalal Gujar.
Authorities said that action will be taken against the guilty as per the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006. This raid was conducted by senior FSO officer Rajiv Korde, FSOs Zenia Rosario, Sneha Sawant and other staff.
