Online registration facility for food business operators

Imphal, July 21 2015 : Government of Manipur on Tuesday launched an online registration facility for food business operations in the five districts of Manipur.
A statement issue by State food safety commissioner/ principal secretary health & family welfare Dr J Surush Babu said the State has adopted the centralized Online System for FBO- License/Registration and it is happy to announce the launching of Online Licence/Registration services for Food business operators in Five districts of the State namely Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Bishnupur and Churachandpur districts.
All the Food business Operators can avail themselves of the services for Licensing/Registration by logging onto the website:http://foodlicensing.fssai.gov.in.
Alternately, they can access www.fssai.gov.in and log on to FLRS link provided in the site.
The statement further said that the Government of India enacted food safety and standards Act (FSS Act 2006), to regulate and monitor the manufacture, process, pack, transport, store distribute, sell and import of any food ingredient so as to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption and also to laying down science based standards.
FSS Regulations Gazette Notified on August 5, 2011 mandates that every Food Business Operation (FBO) must obtain License/ Registration Certificate.
Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has created a Centralized Online System for FBO- License /Registration for use across the country, with the assistance of National Institute for Smart Government (NISG), Hyderabad.
The online Food licensing /Registration system (FLRS) enables the Food business operators at their comfort check for eligibility, apply for License/registration pay the appropriate fees, upload supporting documents, track the status of their applications License/Registration status, schedule inspections and receive alerts on the status and renewals.
Food business operators are encouraged to create their online user accounts to continue to receive SMS, e-mail alerts from authority, the statement added.
