Seven persons aged between 21 and 28 years were hospitalised here on Monday after an incident of food poisoning.
According to sources, they had consumed a mushroom dish at a snack stall in a prominent retail outlet at Kuniamuthur on Sunday evening. After taking the dish, they found worms in the dish and picked up a quarrel with the vendor and left the place.
However, they suffered from severe abdominal pain and vomiting and were admitted to the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, where the doctors confirmed of food poisoning.
The hospital officials alerted the Food Safety Wing, which went to the retail outlet. However, they had closed down the snacks stall.
As no complaint had been filed, the officials said that they had not initiated any action.
