Tobacco products freely available: AAP

Aam Aadmi Party members came to meet District Collector G. Govindaraj on Monday carrying different brands of banned tobacco products.
“We brought the packets of at least a dozen of brands just to show that the same are freely available. The drives conducted by corporation officials, the police, and health officials are mostly been an eyewash. Most of the seizures were from petty shops or some small scale shops. Unless raids are carried out at wholesale distributors, and stockists sales of tobacco products are not going to stop,” said AAP district convener S. Sundarapandian.
AAP activists said the products were available in shops situated close to education institutions.
Authorities were being very selective while carrying out raids on shops, the activists said.

  1. By this time TNFDA should have identified the source of supply, storage, transports, FBO s involved and taken action against them . Mere raids will be only a news in paper.
