The ban imposed by the State Government on the
manufacture and sale of tobacco products like pan parag, pan masala and
ghutka would be strictly enforced said R.V.Ravi, Designated Officer,
Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department here on
Saturday.
Pointing out that a committee headed by the
District Collector is in the process of being formed to enforce the ban
and ensure that it is not violated, he said that stringent action will
be taken against those who defy the ban.
Efforts will
also be made to enhance awareness about the ill effects of tobacco
among the traders and consumers. Complaints relating to violations can
be sent to the Designated Officer, Food Safety, Tamil Nadu Food Safety
and Drug Administration Department, near Government Arts College, Stone
