Bhopal: Officials of the food safety department on Tuesday continued their anti-adulteration drive and checked milk tankers arriving at Sanchi Dugdh Sangh headquarters in the state capital.
Milk from six tankers coming from Sehore, Rajgarh and Betul was checked at the main gate of the Sanchi Dugdh Sangh at around 8am. Six samples from these tankers were taken and sent for purity test. The samples were taken after breaking the seal of the tankers that were inspected, said senior food safety officer D K Verma.
The food safety officials also took two samples of milk from the collection and chilling centre of the Sanchi plant at Tara Sevaniya and Mugaliya Haat. Milk is put into tankers at these places for supply in areas around Bhopal city.
On December 14, sleuths from the crime branch had seized a milk tanker from Misrod, which also carried a motor that had the capacity to siphon off as much as 2,000 litres milk from the tank.
Traces of urea was found in the milk and tanker driver Farhan was arrested from the spot while his other companions were able to escape.
Later, tanker owner Yogendra Pandey and Gopal Gurjar through whom the stolen milk from the tanker was supplied in the market were also arrested. The GPS in-charge and quality control in-charge of Sanchi Dugdh Sangh at Bhopal were also placed under suspension.
