Tirupur: The food safety and drug administration officials seized about 90kg of adulterated tea powder from a trader in the city on Wednesday. The officials caught K Bhuvaneswaran of Ganapathy with the bags of tea powder when he was supplying them to shops on Dharapuram Road.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that Bhuvaneswaran used to purchase tea powder from wholesaler and mix it with sunset yellow or chocolate brown dye. He packed the stuff in smaller bags and sell them to shops,” said K Tamil Selvan, designated officer, Tirupur FSDA.
