FDA tells all food traders to register themselves

Nagpur: The Food and Drugs Administration has said that seeking licence/registration certificate is mandatory for food traders from all districts under Nagpur division as per the provisions of Food Safety and Standard Act 2006 and doing business without licence is a punishable offence. Violators will be jailed for six months and will be required to pay fine of Rs5 lakh.
Traders include grocers, food product transporters, hotel/bar/restaurants owners, bakery, edible oil producers, confectionaries producers, caterers, government/semi-government/private clubs, tribal ashramshalas, backward class hostels for boys and girls, godown owners, temples etc.
All food traders are urged to submit applications for seeking licence/registration certificate online by visiting website www.fssai.gov.in otherwise action will be initiated against the defaulters and they will be sued too. Those desirous of renewal of their licence/registration certificate, should submit necessary form on the website within stipulated time of one month.
