GHMC to check out hotels

The police has been directed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to curb illegal manufacturing units adulterating food products.
Special teams are being constituted for inspection of various establishments dealing with food in GHMC limits with the support of the police.
Hyderabad: The police has been directed by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to curb illegal manufacturing units adulterating food products, in coordination with the food safety department. Special teams are being constituted for inspection of various establishments dealing with food in GHMC limits with the support of the police. GHMC is taking steps to maintain hygiene by the eating establishments and to control the food adulteration.
GHMC said that till July 3, it had inspected 373 hotels and imposed Rs 16.78 lakh penalties on 208 of them. GHMC inspectors looked for hygiene of the place, quality of water and cleanliness and ventilation in the kitchen. They also checked if food was being stored in the fridge, and whether date-expired food stuffs were being disposed of. They also checked whether meat was obtained from licenced slaughterhouses. The teams checked for separate rooms and toilets for staff, and whether the workers were wearing uniform.
