The police have arrested four persons who attempted to intrude Aram Valartha Mariamman temple near Kuniyamuthur allegedly armed with weapons, on Saturday night. The arrested have been identified as Muhammed Rafiq (31), Ibrahim (33) of Edayarpalayam, Muhammed Nizar (27) of Madukkarai market, and Abuthahir (33) of B.K. Pudur.

Officials of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India seized 3.5 tonnes of banned tobacco products worth Rs. 5 lakh during a raid conducted on Wednesday.
