Lucknow: At least 19 people, including 18 women and a child in Narhi area took ill after consuming contaminated prasad here on Monday. All were admitted to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civil Hospital.
Medical superintendent Dr Ashutosh Dubey said two of the patients were critical. Eyewitnesses said all the women had participated in a puja ceremony organised by Atul Jaiswal. Atul said he had procured khoya from Naka area to prepare the prasad. Later, minister of state for health and family welfare Ravidas Mehrotra saidthat teams from Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) were directed into action. Designated officer (food safety) D R Mishra said, "Sample of 'prasad' has been sent for testing."
