'Nirapara' Products Face the Axe

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM:The Food Safety Commissioner has slapped a ban on the manufacture, storage, sale and distribution of ‘Nirapara’ brand chilli powder, turmeric powder and coriander powder.
“The analyses of the spices powders, manufactured by KKR Food Products, Kalady, have revealed the presence of added starch,” Food Safety Commissioner T V Anupama said on Friday.
“Though the Food Safety Wing had issued notices under the Food Safety and Standards Act of India (FSSAI) after analysing the samples, the manufacturer continued to sell the adulterated spices powders, claiming them to be pure in the packets and in media advertisements,” the commissioner said.
