Speakers underline importance of food safety

BHOPAL: Kasturba Hospital BHEL, Bhopal in association with Indian Medical Association BHEL branch organized a public awareness programme on food safety at cultural hall, Piplani to mark World Health Day on Thursday. Executive director, BHEL, AMV Yugandhar was chief guest while GM, HR, PK Goyal was guest of honour.
In her address, Chief Medical Services, Kasturba Hospital, Dr Sarla Menon, emphasized on the importance of WHO Day's theme 'Food safety: from farm to plate, make food safe'. The programme focused on demonstrating the importance of food safety.
Appreciating efforts of IMA and Kasturba Hospital for organizing such programmes, Yugandhar said, "It is our responsibility to follow all rules regarding food safety."
Elucidating on Food safety and Standards Act, joint controller of food and drugs, Pramod Shukla said that street hawkers should pay more attention to cleanliness and hygiene while preparing food.
President, BHEL Ladies Club, Aruna Yugandhar, members of Ladies Club, CISF Commandant Smt Aradhana, all general managers and union leader Shri Amar Singh Rathore were present.
