Chief Medical Officer cum Designed Officer Food Safety,
Tamenglong, has issued a notification informing general public and all
Food Business Operators (FBOs) in Tamenglong District that the
manufacture, storage, transportation, distribution, display, sale and
purchase of Gutkha, Khaini, Zarda, Pan Masala and other chewable
smokeless tobacco products containing tobacco or nicotine food
ingredients as unsafe food injurious to health are completely banned
with immediate effect until further orders. Failing to comply will
attract punishment under the provisions of the Food Safety and standards
Act, 2006, the notification added.
