Hunt on for a new chairperson

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is likely to get a new chairperson soon. Sources in the health ministry disclosed that among the dozen contenders in the fray, the Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) is all set to approve the name of former health secretary K. Chandramouli for the post.
Those considered for the post included K. Sujatha Rao, former health secretary and Dr R.K. Srivastava, former Director General of Health Secrvices (DGHS).
Chandramouli is a Uttar Pradesh cadre IAS officer of 1975 batch. He retired this October as Union health secretary. Prior to this, he worked as secretary, National AIDS control Organisation (NACO).
